Dr. Thomas was sent for, and upon examining the child, told the chief he had been called too late. The chief begged him to do something and Dr. Thomas consented on condition that he be given ab solute charge. First he knelt by the bedside and prayed for help. Four days he did not leave the child for one moment. He took entire care of him, giving medicines and baths, and in less than two weeks the boy was convalescing. As a result Dr. Thomas was asked to hold services in the palace on Sunday and the chief issued a proclamation to his head men, telling them if they were ill to send for the foreign doctor. The boy himself, to show his gratitude, gave Dr. Thomas his silver dipper that his mother had made him, the dearest possession he had on earth. An earnest plea was made by the Secretary for Young People. Rev. Mr. Lamb of Oklahoma, in an address in behalf of the C. E. work, asked the ladies to carry a report of the Board meeting to their young people. The meetings, so full of inspiration and enthusiasm, closed Thursday evening with a stereopticon lecture by Dr. Thomas. Then we were reminded that we must come down from the "mountain top" and work in the valleys, that we may be ready to enjoy the next feast; for only to the earnest toiler does the fruit taste sweet.
